How to Choose a Florist for Delivery in Australia

Quick answer

  • Check delivery eligibility for the recipient's address and date first.
  • Compare the full checkout cost and read substitution and refund policies.
  • Keep order details and contact the business if something goes wrong.

Most flower orders that go wrong fail on something written in the florist's policies: a cut-off in another time zone, a delivery fee that only appears at checkout, or a two-day window to report wilted flowers. Reading those rules takes ten minutes and tells you more than a photo of the bouquet. Below are the things to check, with examples from three florists' own websites, read on 30 October 2026.

FlowersDelivery.com.au is an independent guide operated by Dominet BV. We're not a florist and we don't take orders. No link on this site is an affiliate link right now. We may earn a commission from florists in future when a reader orders through a link on this site. If that happens we'll label those links and explain it in our affiliate disclosure, and it won't change the facts we publish. Prices, cut-offs and fees were checked on each florist's own website on 30 October 2026 and can change, so confirm them at checkout. Read our general information notice. This checklist compares delivery conditions and consumer protections to help you decide where to order.

Check they deliver to the address on the day you need

Enter the recipient's postcode before getting attached to an arrangement. A city name on a delivery page doesn't settle eligibility for the exact address, bouquet and date you want.

Fig & Bloom lists delivery beyond its studio cities through StarTrack next day delivery, including Adelaide, Canberra, the Gold Coast, Geelong and Wollongong. Its FAQ and Shipping Policy, checked on 30 October 2026, say StarTrack and regional courier runs operate on business days. It doesn't deliver on Sundays.

Floraly excludes Tasmania and the Northern Territory. Selected regional addresses are eligible, with dates shown after you enter the postcode. Flowers for Everyone lists Greater Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, the Central Coast and Gold Coast.

Check the actual date offered before paying. Our same-day delivery guide helps you compare areas, while the Sydney guide focuses on local options.

Read the cut-off in the recipient's local time

Use the destination's clock when ordering for someone interstate. Floraly's Delivery Information, checked on 30 October 2026, lists these same-day cut-offs for selected flowers and eligible metro addresses:

DestinationCut-off in destination local time
Sydney and MelbourneBefore 1pm Monday to Friday
BrisbaneBefore 12pm Monday to Friday
PerthBefore 12pm Monday to Friday; before 10am Saturday
AdelaideBefore 1pm Monday to Wednesday; before 11am Thursday and Friday; before 12pm Saturday

Those times all come from that page, checked on 30 October 2026. Public holidays and special dates can differ. Floraly's FAQ gives slightly different same-day cut-offs, so check the date picker for your flowers and address.

Don't treat a general cut-off as confirmation that your chosen bouquet is available. Keep the selected delivery date with your order details so you can refer to it later.

Find the full delivery fee before you pay

Compare the checkout total, including delivery, rather than the bouquet price alone. Enter the recipient's address before deciding which order fits your budget.

Fig & Bloom's FAQ, checked on 30 October 2026, quotes a flat $19.95 delivery charge, including same-day delivery. Its Shipping Policy, checked on the same date, instead directs you to the fee shown at checkout for the order and address. Use that checkout figure.

Floraly calculates delivery charges at checkout based on the recipient's address. Flowers for Everyone's Delivery Info, checked on 30 October 2026, lists standard delivery at $22.95 Monday to Sunday, excluding public holidays, Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. It also lists a $54.95 minimum order to check out.

Our flower delivery cost guide gives more context for comparing the flower price with the total you actually pay.

Look at the substitution policy

Decide what matters about the arrangement: the colour, particular flowers or overall appearance. Then check how much the florist can change if stems aren't available.

Floraly says arrangements can't be changed and lilies can't be removed. Its florists may substitute stems according to seasonal availability. If you specifically need an arrangement without lilies, don't assume a note at checkout will change it.

Flowers for Everyone says unavailable flowers may be replaced with a similar flower of the same colour and value. That preserves some features of the order, but it doesn't mean every stem will match the picture.

For Fig & Bloom, check any seasonal stem substitution terms disclosed at checkout. If a particular flower is essential, ask before ordering and keep the response. Choose only when you're comfortable with the substitutions the company allows.

Understand the refund window

Read the complaint process before ordering. A freshness assessment, a cancellation and a change-of-mind return deal with different situations.

Fig & Bloom's Refund Policy, checked on 30 October 2026, assesses freshness over seven days when flowers have been reasonably cared for. For a minor failure, it offers replacement or redelivery first. For a major failure, the customer chooses replacement or refund. Refunds return to the original payment method. Photos help but aren't a condition, and it may refuse change-of-mind returns for made-to-order flowers.

Floraly's Delivery & Refunds, checked on 30 October 2026, asks you to contact it within two days of receiving the bouquet. For incorrect or substandard flowers, it asks for a photo. It says orders can't be cancelled and it doesn't accept returns or changes of mind.

Flowers for Everyone's FAQ, checked on 30 October 2026, says cancellation with a refund isn't available with less than 24 hours' notice before delivery. Earlier cancellations incur a $20 fee. These company policies sit alongside your consumer rights.

Know your rights under Australian Consumer Law

The ACCC's consumer rights and guarantees page says consumer guarantees apply automatically. Products must be of acceptable quality and match their description. Services must be provided with due care and skill, and within a reasonable time if no time was agreed.

A no-refunds sign can't remove those rights. The person receiving flowers as a gift has the same rights, so the recipient doesn't lose protection because someone else placed the order.

Contact the business first if something goes wrong. Keep the order confirmation, description, delivery details and any photos that help explain the issue. Say what happened and what outcome you're asking for. Don't assume a company's change-of-mind restriction answers a complaint about poor quality or an incorrect order.

Check delivery windows and what happens if no one is home

A delivery date isn't an appointment. Check the arrival window, particularly for a workplace, school or service where the recipient won't be available all day.

Flowers for Everyone's Shipping Policy, checked on 30 October 2026, lists weekday delivery by 9pm for residential addresses, 5pm for businesses and 3pm for schools. Orders after 1pm arrive in the 5pm to 9pm window. Its standard delivery doesn't promise a specific arrival time.

Floraly's Delivery Information page, checked on 30 October 2026, showed an optional delivery window for an extra $10. Check the window offered for your order before selecting it.

Fig & Bloom says redelivery fees may apply if you supply the wrong address, or nobody is home and there's no safe place. It doesn't charge if the failed attempt was its fault. Saturday metro deliveries may be left without a signature in a reasonable place. Check the recipient's availability and provide clear delivery instructions. For a service, also read our sympathy and funeral flowers guide.

Look for local studios, stores and customer care details

A collection point can matter if delivery fails. Fig & Bloom names Fairfield, Camperdown and Bowen Hills studios for pickup of failed deliveries. Flowers for Everyone lists Click and Collect at Silverwater Head Design Studio, Rouse Hill, Salisbury and Yarraville stores.

These details help you judge what collection would involve. Don't assume a listed studio means pickup is available for every order; confirm the arrangements that apply to yours.

Also check when someone can help. Fig & Bloom's FAQ, checked on 30 October 2026, lists customer care from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 3pm Melbourne time. Consider that time zone if you might need help with an interstate delivery.

Watch out for cheap-looking listings and fake sites

A low displayed price isn't enough to judge an offer. Check that the business clearly explains delivery coverage, fees, substitutions, cancellations and complaints before you pay.

If a listing leaves those details unclear, open the company's own policy pages and compare them with checkout. Ask about anything that conflicts. Don't fill gaps with assumptions about what a cheap bouquet includes.

Keep a copy of the description and conditions you relied on. Clear policies give you something concrete to check against the order and to refer to if you need to raise a problem.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check first when choosing a florist?

Start with the recipient's address and required date. Then check the available bouquet, total cost, substitutions and delivery conditions. A flower photo can't tell you if the order suits the occasion.

Can I choose a florist based on price alone?

Compare the full checkout total and the conditions attached to it. A lower bouquet price doesn't answer questions about delivery charges, arrival windows or what happens if the recipient is away.

Will the flowers look exactly like the photo?

Read the substitution terms. Floraly allows seasonal stem substitutions, while Flowers for Everyone describes replacements of similar flower, colour and value. Ask before paying if a particular stem matters to you.

Does same-day delivery mean a specific arrival time?

No. Check the florist's delivery window and any separate timing option. For a workplace or service, confirm the order can arrive while someone is available to receive it.

Can the recipient complain about gifted flowers?

Yes. The ACCC says someone receiving a product as a gift has the same consumer rights. Contact the business first and explain the problem, using order details and photos where available.

Does a no-refunds policy remove my rights?

No. The ACCC says a no-refunds sign can't take away consumer guarantees. Distinguish a change of mind from a complaint that flowers were poor quality or didn't match their description.
